Beskrivelse
Kendo, a contemporary form of Japanese martial arts, has its roots in traditional kenjutsu, or swordsmanship. The practice entails the utilization of bamboo swords known as "shinai" and wooden armor called "bogu." "Kendo" is an acronym that translates to "way of the sword."
Kendo entails kendoka, who are practitioners, participating in sparring matches (termed "keiko" or "shiai") in which they attempt to strike particular areas of the opponent's body in accordance with a prescribed set of etiquette and principles. The torso, head, wrists, and neck are the areas of focus.
Alongside physical prowess, kendo emphasizes the development of character, mental acuity, and discipline. A code of conduct known as "the principles of kendo" (kendo no ri) is adhered to by practitioners. It comprises virtues such as self-control, perseverance, and respect.
In addition to being a physical activity, kendo fosters personal growth and self-improvement through the inculcation of virtues such as humility, perseverance, and respect.
