Crime writer Chip Collingsworth has settled down to a bucolic life in Turners Bend, Iowa. Both his personal life with Jane Swanson and her children and his professional writing life are sailing along smoothly. That is until the body of fellow crime writer Patrick Finnegan is discovered on the floor of a Minneapolis bookstore and two close calls convince Chip that he may be next.
