Under the Eyes of the Serpent

Norse mythology is full of stories about Loki Laufeyson, the trickster, shape shifter, sly enemy of the Aesir and yet their favourite companion. All stories are told now and Loki lies bound in a cave, lost in his solitude where only his faithful wife Sigyn and the dreadful serpent keep him company. But his thoughts are still able to travel. They often wander far, to all the nine worlds and the places he saw during his countless travels and adventures alongside Odin and Thor. Memories fade into dreams, time steadily weaves new pictures in Loki's mind. What of all this has really happened and what are just the reveries of a man who has nothing left but his illusions? No one but Loki can tell - Loki, who like no other strikes the cords of fantasy, who nimbly dances the thin line between reality and fiction. Who knows, maybe his magic is still strong enough to enable him to slip from his fetters every now and then and travel the worlds at his pleasure? Sigyn would not betray him, she never did. And the bored serpent would not care anyway.
