Nationally-recognized teacher Patricia J. Morris, who has over 30 years experience teaching social studies to middle and high school students, shares her wisdom and tips for energizing teachers young and old with new ways to approach their profession. Chapters are devoted to classroom setup, management, field trips, parent outreach, working with fellow teachers and faculty to create new and innovative lessons and projects, and more. Morris emphasizes how important it is to use hands-on, out-of-the-box methods to make the subjects come alive and get the students involved in the topics they're studying. She challenges teachers who are new to their careers, as well as veteran teachers who may be looking for a fresh approach, not to be afraid to take that extra step and try something new. Lots of creative lesson planning tips and advice for dealing with parents, faculty, administration, and the community.
