Beskrivelse

THE WRITE TO JUSTICE explores recovery from childhood trauma in a tense expos that spans more than 50 years. Set against the backdrop of the Canadian landscape, Heather tells of her transition from living on the streets in the City of Toronto as an underage minor, to finding her own strength living in rural Nova Scotia. Her mother, a woman with presumed postpartum psychosis after giving birth to a daughter in the mid 50's, struggles with social pressures. Heather suffers the consequences. Uncertain if she wants justice or reconciliation, she decides to confront the abuse by her mother with the support of clergy from the United Church of Canada and the Presbyterian Church of Canada. Struggling to heal and recover from trauma and abuse as well as serious health problems, Heather shares avenues of recovery through natural medicine, narrative psychotherapy, spirituality and social justice.
