Seven experts have contributed to this study of the past strength and present prospects of German democracy. The first part of the book deals historically with the uphill struggle for democracy, from the times of Bismarck through the hopeful days of the Weimar Republic to the plots of the democratic underground during Hitler's regime. In the second part, the authors discuss Germany's present economic situation.
