The School of Salamanca has contributed to the areas of law, philosophy, economics, cultural studies, among other fields, its definition is linked to the study of theology, as a starting point for all other issues. The central works of Francisco de Vitoria and other thinkers from Salamanca are of paramount importance for the philosophical foundation of human rights in the contemporary world. The main intellectual center and where the most expressive names of this historical moment in the sixteenth century passed through. The importance of this period is due not only to its influence on the first schools in the American colonies, but also to its influence on the European continent. The law of nations, the first Latin and Spanish grammars, the Gregorian calendar and the foundations of modern international law emerged from the University of Salamanca.
