EMILY, born in the late 1990s, is a young Scottish girl who grows up to run her own photography studio.
DIANE, born in Devon in the 1960s, becomes a doctor.
Their stories interweave across time, with events that connect the two of them as they go through similar experiences in the domestic realm and when they are caught up in emotional abuse, trauma, and devastating events. Depression, anxiety and post-natal issues affect each woman. Equally, the sad times are matched with moments of joy, love, passion and excitement.
Emily has a strong sixth sense and she is acutely aware of a spiritual dimension to life. Diane experiences similar happenings. They both struggle in unhappy marriages, suffer from depression, each of them has one child. The story builds in quickening pace to a thrilling climax, when the pieces of the puzzle finally fall into place, connecting the two women in unseen ways, deeper than any blood tie, it is a soul tie that bonds them beyond the ordinary everyday world.
