Abraham Cowley was one of the leading poets of the 17th century and also wrote extensively in prose. This collection of his essays and other prose works includes his influential essay 'Of Agriculture' along with his reflections on the poetic imagination, literary criticism, and social and political issues of his day. This edition also includes an introduction by Thomas Sprat, Cowley's contemporary and fellow writer.
