The Dutch Founding of New York, originally published in 1903, is a revealing look at a little known part of American history and the colonization of the new world. New York, with one of the world's largest natural harbors, traces its roots to its founding in 1624 as a fur trading post by Dutch colonists. The author details the Machiavellian workings of the Dutch West India Company as it creates a colony in order to exploit the resources of the new world.
