Debates have been used for centuries for the purpose of setting two opposing beliefs before an audience for consideration as to which view is more logical for the rationally minded person to be believed. Unlike most debates which are oral in nature, this one was a written debate which took part over two years. Mr. Demory affirmed that he knows that the God of the Bible exists, to which Mr. Shiflett denies. Then Mr. Shiflett affirmed that he knows that the God of the Bible, probably does not exist, to which Mr. Demory denies. The point of this debate is that each party 'knows' that their proposition is true. It is hoped that this debate and the evidence presented within will help anyone struggling with these opposing views to understand more fully what the issues are and to draw only such conclusions that are warranted by the evidence.
