It is a very painful feeling to love someone only to discover that that person hates you, as did his sister in law, Randi Uhler. Family taking care of family was not part of the Uhler creed. However, abusing other family members was. She loved to victimize others then portray herself as the victim accusing the other person doing to her what she was doing to them. She was not the Christian she pretended to be but a satanic witch in a secret coven an unholy alliance with evil, while being a Mennonite Sunday school teacher. She could lie, cheat and steal with impunity and get away with it. Here the protagonist and his family struggle to survive as Randi seeks their destruction. They persevere but lose everything including their own identity. Although her misdeeds were well known, her Mennonite church shielded her from harm and prosecution. Against this evil, he was helpless... For many, evil is abstract, faceless, with no real identity, who many call Satan or Lucifer. However, for me evil has a face and an identity - I call this evil the Beast whose own madness controls her temperament...
