Lucifer means the morning star or "light-bearer", the shining one, alluding to the previous glory he did have as top dog angel in God's kingdom. One day Lucifer woke up on the wrong side of his own pipe organ and thought he could takeover and be the "Most High". Needless to say he let it all go to his head.
