Drilp, a minor demon lord residing in the Lower Realms, has a problem: Torturing the Condemned no longer provides the same job satisfaction it once did. Worse, as the Big Horns in charge view this noble work as a civic duty, the effort is unpaid, which greatly offends Drilp's profoundly held laziness. With human activities being of professional interest to Those Below, prolonged interaction has resulted in social and cultural contamination. Thus, in this dark, smoky and fiery world of punitive HOA boards, dysfunctional family gatherings, scheming civil servants, dodgy lawyers and ambitious government auditors, Drilp bumbles his way along as events outside his control conspire to complicate what would otherwise be his rather mundane cookie-filled existence.
