"Exploring The Certified Currency Plate Proofs - Liberty Loan Bonds & Victory Notes 1917-1923 - Plate Proof Census Summary" is a reference work indexing the Liberty Loan Bond issues produced by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Liberty Loans were part of the effort by the U.S. government to create and sell war bonds (known as Liberty Bonds) to help pay for World War I. The Emergency Loan Act creating the First Liberty Loan was passed by Congress on April 24, 1917. They were issued by the U.S. Treasury department. Buying bonds was part of a huge advertising campaign and became a symbol of doing your patriotic duty to support the Allied cause. They introduced the idea of financial securities for the first time to many Americans. The series provides a visual tour through the certified plate proofs created by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and held in the American Museum of National History. The Book series is intended for educational use only and to assist future researchers. Please check back at www.CurrencyProofs.com for new details
