Beskrivelse
The author relates his experience growing up in the late 1940s and into the 1950s. The book brings back memories of the car designs and driving experiences of that era. Later in life, the author discovered a latent passion for old cars. In 1979, he bought a rotted-out 1939 Ford convertible coupe and, over seven years, restored the car with the help of a restoration shop. Car designs in the immediate post-war period were warmed over pre-war designs. Starting in 1949, American car design took a leap forward, along with engine and transmission design. The process isn't for everyone, but the book can be enjoyed by all who ever dreamed about restoring an old car.
