As a young man afflicted with severe autism, expectations for Nicolas are miniscule. So debilitating is his ailment that he lives in a world of his own. Unable to comprehend the interactive social graces that bind us together as human beings, Nicolas is isolated and alone. As a child with little hope for any meaningful improvement, Nicolas is institutionalized at eight years of age.
