Andy has earned a coveted spot as the research assistant of his idol, Professor Jay Gordon, a historian with an international reputation for his knowledge of the history of American Christianity. And an open believer. Gordon is a man Andy respects and admires. And a man to whom Andy has to confess the reason behind his wretched, sleepless night, the night that has left him physically and emotionally drained. Andy has begun to doubt. His faith, even his very life's most cherished goals, now hang in the balance. All because of a whale of a tale that Andy thought he had long ago dismissed.
