Samuel the Prophet

Samuel the prophet is a fascinating study in the Bible. He was brought into the world through the impassioned intercessions of his mother, Hannah, and given back to God to be raised in the Tabernacle by the priests. As a boy, he began to hear clear, distinct messages from God, and soon all Israel knew the lad was a prophet of the Lord. God used him to promote and demote kings, to call the nation to repentance, and to serve as a circuit judge throughout the land. He was loved by God and loved by the people, but eventually they rejected his leadership over them by demanding for a king to rule over them instead.
