Beskrivelse
In southern Missouri during the late 1870's outlaws still roam the countryside. Anyone that lived through the Civil War still fights for survival. Lazarus is one such outlaw, but one simple desire makes him different. He wants to find redemption for his evil ways and to start a new life.
When he comes across Rhiannon, an Irish woman of strong moral fiber, being kidnapped by a fellow bushwhacker, he rescues her from him, but takes her for his own. Keeping her captive, he comes to know her and forces her to give him a chance to show he's more than a thief and murderer. The pair come to an understanding and strike a mutually beneficial agreement.
The small mining town of Aurora, Missouri is their first step into civilization together on their way out west. And while the preacher there helps send Lazarus down the right path, the deputy is an unwelcome anchor to his past. When Lazarus is forced to take part in an inside job bank robbery to save Rhiannon, his past is exposed to the preacher, and the citizens of the town choose to extract justice for the crime. Narrowly escaping execution at the hands of the angry mob, Rhiannon must defend Lazarus to the judge and gain his freedom. The bond between them is strengthened despite their own flaws and they continue on their trek for a new life in a new world.
