Congratulations, you've adopted a puppy! You're probably very excited about your new family member and all the perks that come with being a puppy parent! However, you need to be prepared for the upcoming responsibilities as it's no walk in the park. In order for your pup to grow into a happy, healthy and confident dog, you'll need to understand what goes into raising one.
Dogs primarily make the perfect pets for families, so if you're single, you might want to reconsider your options for a pet companion before you adopt a puppy. Dogs will demand a lot of your attention, or else they may grow to be misbehaved and irritable.
Just like their human companions, dogs have very complex psyches. If they're not exposed to enough affection in early stages, this can be detrimental to their mental health. A balanced feeding and a spacious backyard is not enough for a dog to be happy. That said, if you live in an apartment with no access to a spacious garden, then owning a dog will be more challenging for you and less convenient for your pet.
So, before you get a dog, make sure you understand that it is not going to be a walk in the park-pun intended-and that you are ready to put in the work it requires.
