Bellamy Nash was born and raised by her father in the ever- ourishing city of North Brooke Port. For Bellamy, growing up without a mother to teach her how to be a woman causes her to fall for anything. After obtaining her master's degree, Bellamy thinks her life is complete, since she agrees to marry her college sweetheart. After months of planning and thousands of dollars spent, the perfect life Bellamy envisions for herself comes to a screeching halt when she is abandoned at the altar by her "soul- mate". On a whim, Bellamy runs as far away from NBP as she can, and the love she swears she doesn't want anymore is all that she sees the moment she crosses paths with Ezekiel Carr.
A "thug" in a suit is what most people would consider Ezekiel Carr to be. Ezekiel was raised in a two-parent household in the Hillcrest neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Life is perfect until the night of his tenth birthday. After celebrating his birth- day, his mother tucks him into bed and makes him promise her he will never let his father turn his heart cold. Years later, Ezekiel is educated and well established in his career, and although he made that promise to his mother some years back, Ezekiel has a heart as cold as ice. A no-nonsense busi- nessman who plays the game better than anybody alive, Ezekiel has sworn o love. The only woman that he's ever uttered those words to left him after she slipped out of his bedroom on his tenth birthday.
Bellamy and Ezekiel met by chance, but fate brings them back into each other's lives when his new business venture lands him in the heart of North Brooke Port.
