Alice Bidebecker is the best Senior Counter Intelligence Analyst the NSA has ever had but she is feeling under-appreciated and disillusioned in the male dominated work environment. When she is approached by a mysterious man with an offer to work for him, massive wealth and a new life in Europe seems to lie ahead of her. She accepts the offer but her resulting disappearance sparks a major crisis in the US intelligence services, as they desperately try to find her and seek explanations for her apparent betrayal. As the initial investigations get underway, a link is made to a missing Professor and his assistant from the University of Minnesota, and their secret work on infectious diseases.
