For many people, Pennsylvania's contribution to the Civil War goes little beyond the battle of Gettysburg. Pennsylvania however, played a key role during the Civil War. Almost 300 military units were formed in Pennsylvania. This index contains 487,521 names of men who served in Pennsylvania units in the Civil War. The index is published in 4 volumes. This volume contains the A - E surnames. Each man is identified with his unit of service and company.
