Beskrivelse
The Old Man and the Sea is a representative work of Hemingway. Santiago, an old Cuban fisherman, finally caught a big marlin by himself after catching no fish for eighty-four consecutive days. However, the fish was so big that it pulled his boat in the sea for three days before it was tired out. Then the fish was killed and tied to one side of the boat. During his return journey, he was attacked repeatedly by sharks. At last, when he returned to the port, only the head, tail and a spine of the fish were left. Although this is a simple story, not a large piece of work, it is rich in meaning. Many teachers recommend it as a teaching material for heroism education to students. This makes it an unfailing bestseller.
