Niblett's Bluff on an old branch of the Sabine River, on the Louisiana-Texas border, was one of the most important crossing and shipping points in the region. During the War for Southern Independence, it became a strategic target for Federal forces and a crucial defensive point for the Confederates. This is the story of that famous, historic river port.
