Unlock the power inside your child by encouraging imaginative play.
Imagination is an essential skill to cultivate in children because it helps them develop creativity, self-esteem, social awareness, and even critical thinking skills.
Unstructured quiet time without access to technology allows children the freedom to develop this important creative muscle and is one of the best gifts you can give your young child. Encouraging kids to imagine their world around them as "whatever they want it to be" helps them develop a positive growth mindset, which has been shown in many studies to be an indicator of future success in life. The more they practice imaginative play, the more they will feel good about themselves and their ability to create and think independently.
Often during imaginative play, children will use this time to work through their emotions and feelings. This provides an excellent opportunity for you to teach the power of intention and self-awareness.
When children can label their feelings and notice when they are thinking thoughts that produce emotions that make them feel bad, they have the power inside them to choose different trains of thought, so they can have more clarity and find solutions easier.
