Mr. Poo is a fun book for children who either find it difficult to use the toilet or are about to learn how.
Five-year-old Tyler would rather wear a diaper than sit on the awful toilet. His feelings of insecurity change one Sunday morning when he meets Mr. Poo, whose eagerness to join his friends in PoopLand – the sewer – gives Tyler the determination to learn to use the toilet.
The story about Mr. Poo is the great idea of Birgitte Meldgaard Larsen, a Danish psychologist who has utilized it with success in teaching children four years and older to use the toilet. The story draws on techniques from narrative psychology that is explained in a short chapter in the back of the book. The book also contains a short chapter with advice to parents about toilet training.
