Beskrivelse
In the fall of 1969, a team of scrappy, quick, and determined football players from LaFayette High School in northwest Georgia set out to achieve something special. They believed in each other, they believed in their coach (Ralph Williams), and they believed in his plan for success. He turned 30 individual football players into a unified team with no interest in personal glory, only the team's collective accomplishments. As a result, they achieved the only undefeated regular season in the 100-year history of football at LaFayette High School. They ranked the 62nd best team in the country that year. This book recalls their path to success through a series of special "Moments to Remember," including a little known local story about Johnny Cash!
The author, Phil Scoggins, is an award-winning broadcast journalist from LaFayette, Georgia, whose career has taken him from radio and TV sportscasting to anchoring the news on television. In his 33-year broadcast career, Scoggins has interviewed Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn, and many other notables.
His stories have taken him to places like Israel, the White House, Ground Zero in New York, the Super Bowl, and the Masters golf tournament in Augusta. Though Scoggins could have chosen to write a book about these experience and hundreds more, he chose to remember the Ramblers, his 1969 high school football team whose magical, undefeated, regular season made school history!
