Also presented are anecdotes and pictures of the 1950s culture of sock-hops, suburbs, and drive-ins that inspired the popular menu choices of that era. the selected dishes recapture a spirit of simplicity and wholesomeness, and were chosen with an eye to the recipes that Mom inherited from Grandma and ones she developed herself. Most of the recipes are for oven or stove-top meals, although in some cases microwave instructions are included where appropriate.
