This volume contains some thirty important studies on the history of medicine among Jews, published between 1948 and 1985 in the Revue d'histoire de la medecine hebraique. Some bear on physicians (e.g. Maimonides, Ibn Zabarra, Moses Hamon, David de Pomis, Jacob Zahalon, Elie Montalto, Michel Levy, Gumpertz Levison, Ferdinand Cohn, etc.), other studies are thematic: medicine in the Talmud, Jewish contributions to French surgery, Jewish medical students at German universities, Jewish hospitals in Moldavia, etc. This erudite wide-ranging volume will be indispensable to all students of the history of medicine among Jews.
