Beskrivelse
In this collection of poems, I explore the nature of madness. I write about the good and the bad within individuals and society through acknowledging that all humans have the capacity to be full of joy, hope and compassion yet can also inflict pain on themselves and others. The collection explores this through acknowledging that context is important and that the global pandemic allowed human beings to fully explore themselves - both the wells of ego strength and the dark side of the Jungian shadow. The poems cover such topics as white supremacy (White Boys of Summer), female strength (The Women of Milwaukee), substance misuse (Taboo Tattoo), human connection (Breathless Runner), the joy of cats (The Cat for Kids), and an ode to the shenanigans of Frank Gallagher from the TV show 'Shameless' (Battle with Gallagher).
