The Life of the Solar Pioneer Karl Wolfgang Ber is the most comprehensive
Autobiography of a world-renowned Scientist and Engineer who has been at the
forefront of the development of solar energy throughout his life. He has been
instrumental to show the direction solar energy conversion must go to become the
key element of future energy production worldwide. With the Solar One House of
the University of Delaware, he has given the direction the solar houses of the future
will progress to generate electric power and heat in a systems house to provides
load leveling for power utilities, and has now published the theory of the new solar
cell that does no longer need a pn-junction to separate the electrons from the holes
that sunlight creates, but a thin layer of attached cadmium sulfide that provides the
separation efficiently and inexpensively.
