Life in the Trenches

Life in 21st century America is not for the faint of heart. It is a time of changing attitudes and mores, cultural and political upheaval and the growing reality of terrorism. Ever-increasing technological changes offer incredible benefits along with incredible risks. The fundamental concepts of family, citizenship, even decency, are undergoing a re-examination. For some this is considered a time to head for the trenches, to hunker down and hide; for others it is a time to take a stand and be counted. And for all it is their time to figure out how to make it through and succeed in this thing called life. "Life in the Trenches" is one poet's view of the tears and the laughter which are a part of surviving these interesting times in which we live.
