Beskrivelse
The first release in an exciting four-part series, La francophonie en action: Independent User 1 is an intermediate-level text that adopts the action-oriented approach (AOA) to learning French as a secondary or foreign language. With a strong emphasis on the francophone world, including a much-needed focus on francophone and Indigenous Canada, this series covers multiple stages of French language acquisition (beginner, elementary, intermediate, and upper-intermediate). While employing a variety of individual, interactive, and collaborative activities, students will be encouraged to engage in a way that ensures agency over language acquisition through interacting in real-life situations presented in the text. Each book in the series will be organized into modules containing practical scenarios that address the four modes of communication: reception, production, interaction, and mediation. Active scenarios propose individual, interactive, and collaborative activities that invite students to engage in an immersive learning experience. At the end of each module, students will undertake a final project that synthesizes the four modes of communication they have practiced, encouraging a deeper understanding of the French language.
The series will be accompanied by robust pedagogical features, including instructor supplements and a companion website, which will include audio and video materials, self-checking grammar exercises, additional student activities, and pronunciation guides for each volume. This text promises a unique and immersive learning experience for students, and the series overall offers a complete set of texts vital for French undergraduate students in Canada and the United States.
