During the past few years, the foundations of our world economic system have been severely shaken. From the real estate crash to the ups and downs of Wall Street, high unemployment numbers and more recently U.S. cities filing for bankruptcy protection, things are looking bleak. You don't have to look far to see the effects: fluctuations in your 401K plan or other investments, the foreclosed houses in our town, or unemployed neighbors, family members, and friends all point to economic shaking. Some time ago, I was watching a TV news broadcast. In the middle of the show they had a special news flash called Breaking News. Sitting there in front of my TV, the Lord impressed on me that He wants to break into the dismal economic broadcast that has become our daily life with breaking Kingdom news-a reminder that our lives are not based solely on what we experience in the natural but can be lived beyond the natural, drawing from supernatural resources. He wants us to know that the economic circumstances we are currently experiencing don't ultimately determine how you and I will live. You and I need to hear that message often because we are bombarded with a lot of natural facts. And if we don't apply spiritual and Kingdom truths to those facts, we can be consumed with the natural as though that's all there is. The truth doesn't make you free, but knowing it does. When we lose sight of it, reminding ourselves of it is what helps us to move in freedom beyond the limitations and feelings that come from an exclusive focus on just natural facts. I believe the message in this book is timeless, but the body of Christ has seemingly lacked an understanding about Kingdom overflow. In too many instances, it looks like God is unable to provide for His people, or that He can't pay His bills. God gives a vision to a man or woman of God, but then can mistakenly be perceived to withhold the necessary provision. I believe individual believers and the broader church are struggling in an area where God wants us really to be struggle-free. While the church has often taught on the goodness of God, for years I didn't understand the importance of experiencing Kingdom overflow for Kingdom advancement. These are times of challenge, and it is in these times that God wants us to be more aware than ever of the reality of the Kingdom. Even though there is a looming recession in the natural economy of our nation, there is no recession in the Kingdom I want to share in this book how the Kingdom shows up in the natural order of things and how we can better work with God so His Kingdom and its unlimited resources show up more and more in our natural lives.
