Berthold Kaufmann was born on November 27th, 1924 in Graz/Austria and fled to Cyprus in 1939, first to Israel in 1941 and finally to East Africa. In 1943 he enters Nairobi voluntarily in the English army and becomes a sergeant. In 1949 he returns to Graz. In this book Ruth Kaufmann portays the life of her father in the form of a diary - a surviver who survived this extermination, presecution and expulsion of Jews during the Nazi era.
