Jeevanmukta Gita of Dattatreya: A Song of the Enlightened

Our actions are like seeds. They give rise to new actions, and this cycle goes on. What we experience now is a result of our past actions, and what we will experience in the future depends on our current actions. As long as these actions influence our mental state, we will remain bound to our actions. Permanent peace is possible only when these actions have no impact on us.

A baked seed cannot generate another seed. How can we stop our actions from producing their results? There are various ways to reach it. In this book, Lord Dattatreya has discussed the characteristics of those who have moved beyond the cycle of actions. An investigation of these qualities and subsequent practice can reveal our eternal state.

A liberated person lives in the same environment as others. It is his perspective on reality that differentiates him from others. When we see various gold ornaments, our focus is on their forms. However, the seller is primarily concerned about the gold. Likewise, an enlightened person sees the inner oneness or essence in everything, unconcerned about their external differences.
