Beskrivelse

I have been observing the Earth since mankind first walked erect and used its first weapon. I am not human and do not take a human form. Eons ago, in Earth time, my species left behind our corporeal form and freed ourselves to roam the universe. I was sent here to observe and report on the evolution of the beings that inhabit this planet.

I have recently again reported back on my observations. Set out below is a summary of that report, re-interpreted into English for human understanding. My fuller observations are set out in the book itself.

"The inhabitants are still in a large chemical carbon and water form that gain energy by ingestion of biological products. They live only about 80 Earth years and a good part of that is occupied as a dependent infant and as a dependent geriatric. They still reproduce by gendered sexual means.

They have progressed to an early stage of technological advancement. They have made early steps in space exploration, mainly by automated spacecraft. Their first attempts have left the solar system. They are developing a curiosity about their place in the universe.

They have used their technologies to take their planet to the brink of destruction. They produce primitive nuclear bombs that can destroy all life on Earth. They pollute their environment even though they can meet their energy needs using less destructive means. Their tribal conflicts, even at this stage of their evolution doom billions to a life of subsistence, starvation and death, principally driven by the need of select few to impose their will on the population. They seek self-identity by the accumulation of power over their fellow humans, and the accumulation of resources that they have no need for.

They retain their primitive desire to worship an all powerful deity, that ostensibly sets their path through their short lives, and fails to recognise this is simply a construct that concentrates control in the select few, invariably to the detriment of their population.

The male of the species wreaks destruction on their society, by pointless aggressive acts of military, economic and environmental kind. They have abundant resources to maintain their society but choose to concentrate them amongst select tribes, while other tribes go without. The dominant tribes watch with detachment while their social structures and coherence are destroyed, seemingly without realising the inevitable consequences of this.

Humans treat the other species on the Earth as mere 'things' for humans to do with as they please.

It remains unclear if the inhabitants of Earth will progress further along the evolutionary path. They are at a turning point, where any small misstep may result in the end of their race or the complete destruction of their planet. The outcome, at this point is unclear.

We will need to carefully monitor the planet for the foreseeable future and prepare for the likelihood of an urgent intervention.

Albert of the Earth."
