Heroes in the Mud

In early 2022, the Queensland Government closed schools and kindergartens across the state in response to catastrophic flooding. Along with New South Wales, the states faced flooding unseen in our lifetime. Amidst so much loss and destruction, repeated stories emerged of ordinary Aussies helping in ways worthy of the title Hero.   



Two little girls, Tara aged six, and Allegra aged four, spent time at home, with no school or kindy, painting watercolor images of the floods and its heroes. Mum added some words in verse to match and 'Heroes in the Mud' came to life. This children's book/reader is designed to capture an important historical event, and warm all hearts, young and old, celebrating the bravery and resilience of everyday Aussies. Consider this a tribute to everyone who got in 'the mud' and lent a hand.
