Beskrivelse
It is the mid-1970s. Steve Percival, recently graduated from St Radegund's College at the University of Cambridge finds himself having to choose between three very beautiful and very different women. This is a matter of considerable surprise to Steve. Previously he had been notably unsuccessful with women. What lies behind this sudden change of fortune in his love life? He finds it hard to believe that it has something to do with the long and enigmatic poem on the subject of black holes that he is writing. But improbably this seems to be the most likely explanation. As he struggles to finish the poem, he finds his life taking a very different course from the one that his family and teachers had planned for him when he first entered that august institution of learning. In this latter-day comedy of manners Eamonn Vincent satirises the attitudes of a much derided decade. But as the contemporary sorrows emanating from digital technology become ever more apparent, the utopian, analogue world of the 1970s as portrayed in Event/Horizon is also bathed in a nostalgic glow.
