Even in the Valley

Living in fear seems to be an acceptable way of life for many. Because of the horrific events that take place on a seemingly daily basis, we are often afraid to attempt to live comfortably. An overload of crime, murder, hatred, and other tragedies that have taken control within our communities have us on edge. So much is going on that it pushes some to the brink of giving up. Many have embraced the grim perception that we are too far gone to turn around. Some have exchanged the feeling of helplessness for hopelessness. Mere daily challenges have been turned into struggles. The reality is that it's not all bad. There is a greater strength within us which helps us to rise from the depths of whatever state we find ourselves in. Regardless of what condition the world is in, there is hope. As we examine the accounts of each of the lives of the characters we will read about, bear in mind that all of their unpleasant situations were changed for the better. When we accept the fact that a greater power resides in us, and is in full control of all things, we can see ourselves rising above any and all circumstances.
