Das Syntagma Des Pikaresken

English summary: Interest in the Picaro figure focused for a long time on the struggle between the ego and society. A versatile cultural paradigm was identified within the antagonism between the awareness of the modern era and its social environment, which provided the modern novel with important impulses. In contrast, less attention was given to the fact that the syntagmas in picaresque narratives are still characterized by specifically pre-modern, serial-episodic patterns and based on medieval biographic depictions and verification models. The contributors to this volume develop interpretive approaches to textual and discursive historicity in early picaresque novels. They illuminate their narrative principles and sociological assumptions within the Spanish, German and French speaking worlds and seek structural manifestations of classical and medieval narrative traditions, as well as contemporary alternatives present in the inter-textual environment. German description: Das Interesse am Figurentypus des Picaro richtete sich lange auf die Auseinandersetzung eines Ichs mit der Gesellschaft. Im Antagonismus von neuzeitlichem Bewusstsein und sozialer Umwelt erkannte man ein wandlungsfahiges kulturelles Paradigma, das dem Roman der Moderne wichtige Impulse vermittelt habe. Demgegenuber fand weniger Beachtung, dass die Syntagmen pikarischen Erzahlens gleichwohl von spezifisch vormodernen, seriell-episodischen Mustern gepragt sind und sich an mittelalterlichen Biographieschemata und Beglaubigungsmodellen orientieren. Die Beitrage dieses Bandes entwickeln interpretative Zugange zur textuellen und diskursiven Historizitat der fruhen Pikaroromane. Sie beleuchten deren narrative Verfahren und soziologische Voraussetzungen im spanischen, deutschen und franzosischen Sprachraum, und sie fragen nach strukturellen Angeboten antiker und mittelalterlicher Erzahltraditionen wie auch nach zeitgenossischen, im intertextuellen Umfeld verfugbaren Optionen.
