Beskrivelse
This is an Irish American hybrid memoir set in mid 20th century San Francisco. It is the portrait of a writer growing up in San Francisco's Mission district and raised by a single father and Irish immigrant grandparents. It also concerns many historical and cultural changes of the late 50s and early 60s, including theatre, film and rock and roll. It was given a highly favorable review by Gerald Nicosia of the San Francisco Chronicle and other critics, one of whom labeled Confessions of a Shanty Irishman a "cult classic." This much revised book has gathered a following since its first publication in 2002.
