Originally published in 1869. BRAZIL AND THE RIVER PLATE IN 1868, by William Hadfield, showing the progress of those countries since his former visit in 1853, is the history of Brazil, its progress in government, industries, travel and especially its railways. etc. The Argentine Railway, The Rouen, the Havre Railway, and several other railways were constructed by Brassey, Wythes, and Wheelwright. The construction of railways was a work peculiarly adapted to being executed by contract, and the practice consequently speedily increased when once it had been instituted.
