1351 AD. The Black Plague that has long gripped the English countryside is waning.
Fleeing a terrible history of torture and murder, and in an attempt to save their beautiful daughter, Ellaine, from a repeat of it, a loving family leaves all and flees into the countryside.
But their attempts to save their daughter are very nearly brought to naught when the very man they are trying to escape follows.
Following a short, decisive battle, and with no other recourse, they capture the young count and take him with them.
As their bondsman.
Now, far away from their home, they settle on a stout farm left abandoned by the plague deaths of its former inhabitants, and discover a new life.
And a growing fascination between Ellaine and the count.
Can romance bloom where only hate has grown?
Can a girl forget the torture and near-murder of her own parents at the cruel hands of the young count's father and instead see the young man for what he is becoming?
