Beskrivelse
Michael Bockemühl ranks among the most interesting practitioners of perception and image theory of the last few decades. With his exemplary procedures of visual analysis he expanded the strictly defined theoretical frameworks of art history, developed an epistemology of the conception of painting, and anticipated some of the theoretical observations of relational aesthetics. His formula of ''image reception as image production'' and texts on the relation between aesthetics and economy can be understood as an action-oriented theory of knowledge. This book offers a survey of his work and uses selected texts to introduce his pioneering procedures of pictorial and perceptual analysis.
