Selected poems written during the historic, four-year drought in California by John Dofflemyer, a fifth-generation cattleman in the southern Sierra Nevada foothills, insights from the land and its animals, both wild and domestic, and from its people, as all adapt to the whims of the weather. Books of his poetry have been twice selected for Wrangler Awards from the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.
