Best Friends 13: Our Family Grows Mindy and Eddie would like to spend some time fulfilling their dreams and getting to know each other better before their family grows. Sometimes no matter what our plans are, circumstances have a way of changing our lives. I am ready to yell at him for not calling to tell me, but he beats me to it and says that he is sorry for not calling, it's just that everything happened so fast he just wanted to get on that plane and get home to me and the girls. I feel a little better, but mom doesn't have to look so self righteous. She asks me why I'm so upset, I tell her everything is going wrong today and now my tummy hurts like heck, fortunately it only lasts for a short time. She looks at Nana and comes over to sit next to the bed. She tells me next time my tummy starts hurting let her know. It only takes a few minutes and it starts hurting, she puts her hand on it and looks at her watch. She doesn't say anything more about it except to tell me to let her know next time it happens. We talk for a while and I tell her it is happening again and it seems to hurt more every time it happens. Mom looks at her watch and puts her hand on my tummy again, when the pain is gone she asks me if I remember anything that she taught me about childbirth. I tell her I think I remember everything. Why? "Sweetheart, what did I tell you about contractions?" "You said that is how the body pushes the babies out through the birth canal. Is that what this pain in my tummy is?" "I'm pretty sure that's what it is, we will have to see if they become more regular and closer together but I really think you are getting ready to have those little girls my love." Now I'm really scared. "I can't do this without Eddie, tell the girls to stop until their daddy gets home. I can't get in touch with my doctor or anything, besides I hurt all over from working yesterday so today is not a good day. We can see what tomorrow is like." Mom is smoothing my hair like she did when I was a little girl, funny I feel like a little girl again right now.
