This is a true story based on the lives of the author's great grandparents, Jack and Grace Cogbill. Like millions of other young men in The Great War, Jack had to enlist to go and fight a battle which would change his life, and the lives of his loved ones, forever. While his brothers left Britain to fight in France and Belgium on The Western Front, Jack's war would take him to Thessaloniki, in Greece. The book is narrated by his wife Grace. She tells the harrowing story of what happened to the men and the families they left behind. It traces the story from their marriage in 1912, until her death in 1957.
